President Donald Trump has announced that he will assign the first female director for the Central Intelligence Agency. Gina Haspel, a seasoned CIA officer, has a dark past in the CIA, though. She oversaw waterboarding procedures in the interrogation of captured terrorists. Because of that, her vision for the agency has been questioned, but she will most likely be the next director anyways.

The Trump administration has secretly signed legislation into action that will allow elephant and lion trophies, such as ivory, to make their way into the country legally. The ban was passed by the Obama administration in an effort to reduce big-game trophy hunting, but it has been reversed by the new administration.
Nearly two months after the Turpin children were found in an inhumane state, another couple has been arrested for mistreating their children. Three children - ages 11, 13, and 14 - were found in a plywood box which measures 20 feet long by 4 feet high by 10 feet wide. They had been in this box for approximately four years.
The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department that they found a "travel trailer, which appeared to be abandoned, and a large rectangular box made of plywood on the property". The press release also states, "the property had no electricity or running water. Several large holes and mounds of trash and human feces were located throughout the property." The children were also found to have "an inadequate amount of food". The two parents - identified as Mona Kirk, 51, and Daniel Panico, 73 - have been arrested on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child. The children have been placed under the protection of Children and Family Services, and the parents are being held on $100,000 bail. An Indian family was shaken to its core when they found out that one of their newborn twins was actually alive after doctors proclaimed them both to be dead. Ashish Kumar, father of the twins, stated that his wife went into labor twenty-three weeks into her pregnancy, giving birth to a son and daughter. The doctors left the room with the twins, but when they came back, the doctors handed Kumar his children back in a plastic bag.
Kumar was informed in vivid detail that both children had died, so the bereaved planned a funeral for them. On the way to the funeral, the twins' grandfather was horrified to feel one of the bodies wriggling around. The boy was still alive. The family rushed to the nearest hospital, but the infant died after a five-day battle to survive. He had been wrapped in five layers of plastic alongside his sister, so he had no opportunities to breathe. Kumar has stated that he will not stop protesting until the doctors are fired, arrested, and convicted under a court of law. The Delhi police has now transferred the case over to its crime unit. If the doctors are found guilty, the hospital will face the extreme likelihood of losing its license. Wait - it's not clickbait. The current ruler, Robert Mugabe, has had the rug snatched from underneath his feet by no other than his former vice president, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa was fired from his position in order to ensure that Mugabe's wife, Grace, would be next ruler.
Needless to say, Mnangagwa did not take kindly to that. Mnangagwa then left to South Africa, but by no means did he flee. He and his close ally - Constantino Chiwenga, the head of the military - orchestrated a coup that caught international attention. Although the coup is essentially over, and Mugabe is still technically the president, Mnangagwa has asserted his dominance over Mugabe. He has been fired as the president of the Zanu-PF, the ruling political party, and news sources have been informed that impeachment proceedings are under way. So, you might ask: what does that have to do with mass murder? Well, it's actually pretty crystal clear. Under Mugabe's reign, Mnangagwa coordinated the genocide of the Ndebele people because Mugabe's strongest political rival was a Ndebele. Mugabe signed an agreement with North Korean ruler Kim Il Sung to have the a group of elite soldiers trained there, later named the Fifth Brigade. The Fifth Brigade slaughtered the Ndebele between 1983 and 1984, all under the orders of Mugabe and Mnangagwa, Mnangagwa will only be another tyrant for Zimbabwe, and the world can only watch as chaos rules. On November 14, 2017, the American people were spared the loss of schoolchildren by a school's quick reaction as a gunman, Kevin Janson Neal, ravaged through the Rancho Tehama Reserve early Tuesday morning. Rancho Tehama Elementary School was one of Neal's several targets during his spree. The secretary and custodian reacted by going out into the yard and instructing the children to go back into their classrooms. The portable classrooms suffered a hail of bullets through the walls and windows, but only one student was injured, but the child is expected to survive.
Although intruder drills may seem like a bother to most students, they serve a larger purpose. These elementary school children were spared from casualties due to their school's preparedness, even in a situation with variables that they could not control. A rural church is one of the few places where you will see generations of the same family gathering at one time. The Holcombe family of the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, was no different. Joe and Claryce Holcombe are the oldest members of the family, and as the oldest, they should not have seen their successors pass away before them, but their children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives were taken right before their eyes on the morning of November 5, 2017. They lost eight members of their family, and they had a great-grandchild that was on the way.
On October 1, 2017, the Catalan province of Spain held an illegal vote in in order to introduce the independence of the region to the central government. The central government responded by firing Carles Puigdemont, the Catalan president, and it has said that it will file rebellion charges against him. The central government has also forced the resignation of Catalan police chief Josep Lluis Trapero following the inactivity of the Mossos, the Catalan regional police, during the referendum in a failed attempt to avoid taking sides. Trapero encouraged loyalty to the newly-assigned police chief and to avoid taking sides.
Loyal Catalans have stated that they have not experienced this level of fear in expressing Spanish loyalty since the 1970s when Francisco Franco, Spain's long-term dictator, died, sending the state of the country into chaos. Bobbly Flay, chef on well-known cooking shown Iron Chef, quit the show in the middle of taping. However, it was not in the traditional resignation letter - not by a long shot. He allegedly printed and wore a shirt underneath his uniform that said "THIS IS MY LAST IRON CHEF BATTLE EVER" and exposed it. He showed the shirt in a shot that the producers said could not be cut out, and he reportedly responded by saying, "That was the point."
Harvey Weinstein has been a staple in the film-making industry since the 90s, but last week, British actress Lysette Anthony accused Weinstein of rape. She stated that she has spent years trying to forget the "pathetic, revolting" attack.
Moreover, she is not the only woman to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct. Dozens of other women in the entertainment industry have come forward, alleging that Weinstein would intimidate them into submission by using his power and connections. The women kept quiet for years, but they are now coming in by the masses. Weinstein's defense attorney, Sallie Hofmeister, stated, "Any allegation of nonconsensual sex is vigorously denied by Mr. Weinstein." |
